Good news for rap-loving schizophrenics: It’s no longer weird to wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.

Bumbling alcoholics have reason to rejoice, too. Attempting to brush your teeth “with a bottle of Jack” has officially gone mainstream. Y’all can thank pop sensation, Ke$ha, for that.

The music industry has a long tradition of manufacturing pop moppets with a penchant for partying and Ke$ha, even with the always-classy inclusion of a dollar sign in her name, definitely doesn’t break the mold.

What she does, however, is offer a respite from the PG pep-rally pop of Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber (let’s be honest, the dude’s more baby-faced than both of them combined. He’s like a neutered puppy wearing a baseball cap.) And while Ke$ha might be nothing new, she’s bratty, she’s brash, and she’s definitely not singing songs about braiding her BFF’s hair at a slumber party.

Ke$ha’s debut, Animal, is a fun, scandalous-enough romp through a few weekends worth of unapologetic debauchery. And when it comes to partying, she’s as exuberant as a first-semester college freshman – right down to the water bottle full of whiskey. (Given the numerous the references to throwing up on the album, apparently she holds her liquor like one too).

The album’s lead single, “Tik Tok,” is a certified party jam. It’s Ke$ha’s anthem for staying out all night drinking and dissing the guys who, um, “try to touch [her] junk.” Most of the lyrics sound like nursery rhymes written by Lindsay Lohan fresh off a coke binge, but the whole electro-fiasco is unbelievably catchy.Other tracks, like “Party at a Rich Dude’s House,” cut straight to the point and are almost elegant in their blunt simplicity. The song itself is standard party pop, but lyrics about “pissin’ in the Dom Perignon” are entertaining enough to sustain it for just less than three minutes. Plus, serious question: who doesn’t like the idea of a crashing a party at a rich dude’s house? It’s straightforward, it’s shallow, and the hook will be burned, indelibly, into your brain.

Lest you think Ke$ha is only about partying, however, she offers up a track called “Boots and Boys,” an ode to her true passions in life. Don’t worry though, this isn’t some deep metaphor or anything. The song is completely self-explanatory. It’s a declaration of her affection for sturdy footwear and good-looking guys.

“Boots and boys,” Ke$ha raps listlessly, “They bring me so much joy.” It’s impressive, because it’s like she managed to take the plot of every episode of “Sex and the City” condense it into three minutes of mind-numbing techno.

“Blah blah blah,” is probably the most obnoxious track on the album, which is a feat, given that the entire album is, at the very least, mildly annoying. The tinny electro pop is grating in an acrylic-nails-on-a-chalkboard kind of way, and lines like, “Don’t be a little bitch with your chit chat, just show me where your dick’s at,” make it sound more like a parody than anything else.

This could be the Lonely Island’s long-awaited sequel (or, even better – prequel) to “Jizz in my Pants.”

But, cringe-worthy as they are, those “…really?” tracks are the ones that show Ke$ha at her best, or at least her most memorable. Songs like the title track, “Animal,” in which, shockingly, Ke$ha makes no mention of throwing up in a closet, taking some guy’s pants off, taking her own pants off, or waking up in someone’s front yard, are pretty damn dull in comparison.

Ke$ha’s long term career prospects look kind of dim. Her party girl shtick won’t hold up so well when she’s in her 40s, possibly juggling a couple kids and weathering all the downers of middle age (and we all know tracks about minivans, messy divorce and crows feet just won’t have the same sex-appeal). But for now, Animal is a good time. The hangover’s going to set in eventually – but Ke$ha’s gonna live it up while it lasts.
